What does a zebra sound like?

The thought of what a zebra sounds like popped into my head so did a bit of digging and found this, it's almost laughing.

This zebra sound in the video is not a one off. Zebra sounds seem like a bird in the rainforest to me.

Zebras are mammals and have the most recognisable skin of the animal kingdom. No two zebras are the same, like humans and finger prints. There are 3 types of zebras that all live in central and southern Africa.

Far from why they make that sound, scientists wonder why zebras have stripes? There isn't a definitive answer but likely a form of camouflage. The stripes make it difficult to separate one zebra from a few. The stripes even distort distance at dawn and dusk. Stripes definitely help zebras recognise each other.

Zebras are social animals that spend time in herds. They graze together, primarily on grass, and even groom one another. This might explain their zebra sounds of laughing.

Zebras must be constantly wary of lions and hyenas. A herd has many eyes alert to danger. If an animal is attacked, its family will come to its defence, circling the wounded zebra and attempting to drive off predators.

Incase you can't get enough of the Zebra sound here is another video.
