So you get to an exterior location and a few years ago if you weren't filming next to London Heathrow you took a chance with airplanes and flight paths but NO MORE!
Flightradar24 tracks all major flights and give you info on destination airport along with where it has come from and gives a tracking line for it's flight path so you can work out if planes will likely affect you all day.
On location you can see all this info in real time and have a pretty good estimate of if a planes going to come mid take.
The app doesn't show helicopters and some smaller personal aircraft so scouting airfields is advised of course Common aircraft models that usually do not have an ADS-B transponder and are not visible on Flightradar24 (within ADS-B coverage):
