Definition: Baffle

A baffle is a partition that is used to prevent sounds passing into another space. Baffles are made of very absorbent material that diffuses all the sound energy before it passes through the baffle. Baffles are used to get rid of unwanted sounds or even reflections within a room. You could, for example, use several baffles in a big space to reduce reverberation time.

Baffles are also known as screens.
